Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn't here, email us at hello@candyscats.org — we read every message.
How long does the adoption process take?+
Most applications are reviewed within 3–5 days. From application to bringing your cat home is typically 1–2 weeks.
What are the adoption fees?+
Adoption fees range from $75 (adult cats) to $150 (kittens). Fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, FIV/FeLV testing, and deworming.
Do you ship cats out of state?+
We adopt locally to ensure we can support our adopters. If you're outside Central Florida, please contact a rescue in your area.
Can I adopt a kitten as my only pet?+
We strongly encourage adopting kittens in pairs — they thrive with a feline playmate, and it makes raising them much easier.
What is FIV?+
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. See our FIV Info page — short version: FIV+ cats live full, happy lives in indoor homes.
I found a stray. What do I do?+
First, check for a microchip at any vet. Post on local lost-and-found groups. If you can keep them safe for a few days, that gives the owner the best chance of finding them.
Can I surrender my cat?+
We're a small foster-based rescue with limited capacity. See our Rehome a Pet page for the full process and alternatives.
How can I help if I can't adopt?+
Foster, volunteer, donate, share our cats on social, or come to an event. Every bit helps.
