2026 Board of Directors

KL

President & Fundraising Manager

Kasi L. Lancaster

Kasi began her journey with Candy's Cats as a volunteer in 2020. Her dedication quickly led her to join the Facilities Management team in 2021, the same year she was appointed to the Board of Directors. Today, she also leads the organization's fundraising efforts. Kasi is the proud adopter of Candy's Cats alum Ginny, who shares a home with her delightfully named feline siblings: Admiral Meowington, Fenway Ormond, and Clancy Pants (formerly Slats).

CS

Vice President, Executive Director & Founder

Candy Sullivan

Candy has been a passionate force in animal rescue since 2002 and founded Candy's Cats in 2005. Before dedicating herself fully to the rescue, she spent 25 years as a family law paralegal following a 23-year career in the hospitality industry. Over the years, Candy has fostered hundreds of felines and adopted too many to count (her current feline family numbers six). She firmly believes that Candy's Cats is entirely shaped by its volunteers—past and present—who serve as the true backbone and driving force behind the rescue.

DM

Secretary

Danyel Marrero-Sullivan

Danyel joined the team in 2015, starting as a dedicated foster for abandoned mother cats and their kittens before taking on the role of adoption counselor. Over the years, her contributions have steadily expanded to support the rescue's growth. In 2023, Danyel began assisting with crucial grant-writing efforts, and in 2024, she was officially appointed as Secretary of the Board of Directors.

DH

Treasurer

Debbie Hoch

Debbie has been an integral part of the Candy's Cats family since she first began volunteering in 2014. Her commitment to the organization's stability and future led her to take on the vital role of Treasurer in 2015, a position she has held ever since. A true advocate for the mission, Debbie has also opened her home and heart to several adopted Candy's Cats alumni.

BW

Director, Adoption Coordinator & Cat Behaviorist

Brenda Weatherford

Brenda brought a wealth of professional experience to Candy's Cats when she started volunteering in 2021. Drawing on her extensive background as the Rescue Coordinator for BARC—a major animal shelter in Houston, Texas—she quickly became an invaluable asset to the team. By August 2022, Brenda stepped into her current roles as Adoption Coordinator and Cat Behaviorist, expertly matching felines with their perfect families while supporting their behavioral needs.
